At CFOL, Drilling
Engineers play a key role in the preparation
of completion and work over programs along with
the monitoring of these well operations to ensure
they are carried out in a technically correct
and efficient manner. More specifically, an
Engineer may be responsible for performing the
following functions:
- Design and plan the
technical drilling requirements for completion,
re-completion, and work over operations.
- Make recommendations
and decisions in consideration of internal
and external safety and environmental guidelines.
Ensure strict adherence to regulatory policies
and procedures.
- Coordinate drilling
activities with the department manager and
other department staff.
- Work with other departments
to ensure processes are efficient and meeting
internal standards.
- Research, recommend
and evaluate various stimulation techniques
to maximize production.
- Maintain a high degree
of technical excellence within the required
skills in order to ensure that the best and
most cost-effective technical ideas and methods
are being used.
Drilling Engineers generally
require a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
and experience in development, drilling, and
production has been considered an asset. Engineers
must also be skilled in achieving results, negotiation,
analysis, problem solving, decision-making,
planning, organizing, and building relationships.
An Engineer in this role
works closely with other team members in the
office and the field. Depending on the position,
an Engineer may be required to be on-call or
attend to emergencies that occur outside of
regular office hours. |
